The artist’s amplifier.
Your amp is as much an instrument as your guitar.
So it should be built like one.
We painstakingly design our amplifiers to have character rooted in the rich history of the 1950s and 60s, without compromising the level of control that stages and studio environments demand today. The result is a sonically and visually inspiring instrument that empowers you to find your own timeless sound.
Each amp is meticulously handmade, to order. We’re a small team of artisans who agonize over every detail: wood grains, wire lengths, component placement, and voltage measurements, to name only a few.
The outcome? Yours is the best amp we’ve ever made.
We obsess over tone.
Each person who touches your amp is a musician themselves, and considers their work unfinished until it sounds like an Argyle.
When you hear an Argyle amplifier, you’re listening to the culmination of thousands of decisions: the metals we choose for our magnets & transformers, the woods & dimensions that we choose for our cabinets, all the way down to the manufacturing methods we select for our resistors and capacitors.
We understand what every decision implies for the final character of the amp, and enjoy partnering with players seeking a specific sound.
Meet the Argyle I
At seven mighty watts of single-ended power, the Argyle I inherits its smooth breakup character from the early tweed amps of the 1950s. But that’s just one side of this beauty’s family tree. A sturdy 5AR4 rectifier and overbuilt output transformer make for articulate lows that funk, soul, blues, rock, and country players expect from this amp’s modern-day cousins.
We gave the Argyle I a three-band eq, on-board spring reverb, and output impedance selector so that it will sound great through any speaker complement. Even we were surprised, however, by the amp’s magical voice when we piggy-backed it on our 2x12 Mahogany-Walnut cabinet with handmade alnico speakers.
Eye-catching? Check. Ear-catching? Holy check! We’re proud to bring you the Argyle I, the next step in your sonic journey.
